Founded in 1876 by George Henry Bass, Bass started with one man and a simple mission: “To make the best possible shoe for its intended use”. In 1936, the brand put a stylish spin on a Norwegian farm shoe designed for "strolling in the fields" and playfully named it Weejuns - thereby introducing the world's very first penny shoe, the Weejun. Worn by presidents and Hollywood legends, Weejuns have been a staple of some of the most influential subcultures in fashion history.
