After 18 years of learning the headwear manufacturing process, Ehrhardt Koch launched New Era in 1920. In the 1930s, baseball became increasingly popular in the USA. Even then, players wore caps to protect themselves from the sun. New Era then launched the production of baseball caps, and success followed. Indeed, by 1934, New Era became the official cap supplier for the Cleveland Indians.
