Pocket atlas of the easiest-to-grow garden flowers
This 1912 publication invites us to admire 128 plates originally colored using chromolithography.
They depict 137 common plants and are accompanied by 190 pages of explanatory text, including a scientific classification and practical advice written by a contemporary specialist.
The classification is followed by basic gardening principles, covering topics from the importance of garden exposure to soil preparation, and concludes with a very useful flowering calendar, all presented in an engaging and accessible popular science style.

Author: Paul Hariot (1854–1917), a pharmacist, botanist, and phycologist, author of numerous natural history books. He participated in the scientific mission to Cape Horn and received the Montagne Prize from the French Academy of Sciences in 1890.
