Barena Venezia is an Italian family business that has greatly influenced men's and women's fashion in Italy and beyond over the past few decades. It introduced the concept of dressing casually with elegance using workwear fabrics. The company was founded in 1993 by Sandro Zara, who discovered patterns and sewing books in the archives of wool mills in Venice. The brand name, Barena, refers to the lifestyle of the rural inhabitants of Venice and the importance of the sea in their culture.
