The newest volume in the Typology Collection is dedicated to the camping tent. A common motif in rural landscapes and urban spaces alike, the tent is an omnipresent typology whose apparent simplicity is deceptive.
Halfway between architecture you handle and furniture you inhabit, the tent covers countless uses and brings together heterogeneous realities: a reminiscence of primitive huts, descendant of military camps, a shelter for leisure or necessity — precarious yet resilient, protective yet porous — used in both controlled and extreme environments.
An elementary assembly of ultra-high-performance materials, it is designed in the West and produced in Southeast Asia. Even more than the single-material objects studied in previous Typologie issues, this composite object reveals the complex nature of the things that surround us.
