Renowned for its masterful interpretation of classic American men's fashion, BEAMS PLUS began as a small shop in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1976, and the store was named American Life Shop BEAMS. After a turbulent period of political unrest, young people, influenced by images of American culture they saw in films and on television, longed for something other than military gear. This marked the beginning of BEAMS. Designed to replicate a UCLA student’s room, the shop was undoubtedly the first of its kind.
