Founded in 1876 by George Henry Bass, G.H. Bass began with one man and a simple mission: "To make the best possible shoe for the purpose for which it was intended." In 1936, the brand gave a stylish twist to a Norwegian farm shoe designed for "loafing in the fields" and playfully named it Weejuns—thus introducing the world's first penny loafer, the Weejun. Worn by presidents and Hollywood legends, Weejuns have been a staple of some of the most influential subcultures in fashion history.
