Founded in 1876 by George Henry Bass, G.H. Bass began with one man and a simple mission: “Make the best possible shoe for the purpose for which it is intended.” In 1936, the brand gave a stylish twist to a Norwegian farm shoe designed for “loafing in the fields” and playfully named it the Weejun — thus introducing the world’s very first penny loafer. Worn by presidents and Hollywood legends alike, Weejuns have been a staple of some of the most influential subcultures in fashion history.
