After 18 years of learning the hat-making process, Ehrhardt Koch launched New Era in 1920. In the 1930s, baseball became an increasingly popular sport in the USA. Even back then, players wore caps to protect themselves from the sun. New Era then began producing baseball caps. And it was a huge success. In fact, in 1934, New Era became the official cap supplier for the Cleveland Indians.
