Job van den Berg is a Dutch designer and graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, exploring the boundaries of materials and industrial techniques.
"The reason I crush miniature cars and model vehicles goes way back. When I was a child, I used to try crushing small toy cars in a vise. Now, many years later, I am able to manipulate six million kilograms with an eight-meter-high hydraulic press. The child in me was very curious, so it didn’t take long before the first toy cars became completely flat. What I really love about crushing cars is that they never deform the same way. If I crush two identical cars, they will always have a different outcome. The combination of a controlled process and an unpredictable result makes each crushed car a unique work of art." - Job van den Berg
