A richly illustrated biography of a design icon
Charlotte Perriand is a design icon — like her famous shepherd’s stool. A visionary, she invented a new art of living in the 20th century: forms, furniture and spaces acclaimed worldwide, first created in Le Corbusier’s studio and later on her own, against all odds — and as far as Japan.
But it was in nature and in the mountains that this brilliant creator found her inspiration: a child fascinated by glaciers on the horizon, a passionate skier, a bold mountaineer, a curious hiker meeting makers in villages and alpine pastures.
Pascale Nivelle drew from her exceptional photo collection to tell the story of an engaged, joyful woman for whom the mountains were a constant “re-creation.”
