After 18 years of apprenticeship in the hat-making process, Ehrhardt Koch launched New Era in 1920. In the 1930s, baseball became an increasingly popular sport in the USA. Already at that time, players wore caps to protect themselves from the sun. New Era then launched the production of baseball caps. And success followed suit.
